Review! EVS Sports TP199 Lite Elbow Guard and Knee Pads
Pre-amble
As a long-time desert rider (primarily), I’ve lucked out and been injury free nearly my whole riding life. Probably for this reason, I’ve been lazy when it comes to riding protection.
Of course, I always use boots, helmet, gloves, and outfit. However, when it comes to body armor I’ve not given it the most attention. For most of the years I used the standard Fox/HJC hard plastic roost protector that somewhat includes the shoulder armor/protection. At one point, I tried this old-school Fox under jersey roost protector that just didn’t conform to the body and was terribly uncomfortable.
In more recent years, the best option has definitely been the Fox mesh zip-up with integrated body armor. Amazon has a clone of this which I have first-hand experience with – Check my review HERE:
Although the full mesh zip-up is great and is what I currently use, I do have a gripe with it in that the back/tail protection is too long for me. This is probably a personal problem, but it always catches the back of my pants and pushes them down.
Looking to have the benefits of protection, comfort, and mobility, I’ve begun to explore separate elbow, knee (which I never used before), and body armor.
To this end, I used the EVS Sports TP199 Lite armor this weekend. I went with both the elbow and knee guards. To throw in a small twist, I wore them externally over a bodysuit costume. I get into the details below.

Overall experience with them was excellent. The greatest thing about wearing them, is I didn’t even notice they were there.
